How this is measured. Each forecourt’s price now is compared with the price the same forecourt was charging 24 hours, 7 or 14 days earlier, and only forecourts with a current price at both ends are counted. A brand’s figure is the average of those moves, so it cannot be skewed by which of its sites happened to report. Brands and regions need 20 forecourts to appear and towns 4. As everywhere on this site, prices more than 25% from the national median are treated as typing errors, and forecourts that have not reported for 14 days are left out. Prices come from the Fuel Finder scheme, which retailers are legally required to report to, and the feed refreshes twice a day. See our method, or the page for journalists for other figures you can use.
Asda Express. The feed records the fuel brand on the canopy, not who runs the forecourt. Asda sets the price at around 470 stand-alone Asda Express forecourts, most of them branded Esso, BP, Shell or Texaco. Since 2 October 2026 we identify them from their trading names and show them as their own row and within “Asda incl. Asda Express”; they are no longer counted in “All other forecourts”. The Asda row on its own means Asda’s supermarket forecourts.
